Abstract
Analyzes the hithertounknown lifelong correspondence between two very different figures one a scandalprone nonconforming Imagist poet the other a somewhat inhibited conventional lawyer who reached the upper levels of his profession Shows how each needed what the other offered "” freedom from inhibition in the one case discipline and rigor in the other Shows how excessive regimentation in legal work formalism can lead to unhappiness and professional dissatisfaction
