Abstract
Examines notorious cases that in retrospect appear reprehensible and injure the reputation of a prominent judge or court Suggests that these often result from judicial blind spots that are a product of lack of familiarity with a human condition or dilemma Suggests that in the absence of broad experience literature and reading can aid understanding through vicarious experience
