A 1975 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, Huey Thomas Wells, Jr. (1950-2024) served in the U.S. Air Force working as legal counsel in the Pentagon after which he became a founding partner of Maynard, Cooper & Gale (now Maynard Nexsen). Wells specialized in litigation and environmental law and served as president of the American Bar Association from 2008 to 2009. Within that organization, his leadership roles included Chair of the House of Delegates, Chair of the Section of Litigation, and co-Chair of the Special Committee on Disaster Response.
