Abstract
I examined the increase of symposium issues and offered some theories on what that rise means I also explored who publishes in these issues what they are about and whether they are qualitatively stronger or weaker than regular or mixed issues in these same reviews I also discovered that certain writers tend to appear together particularly in symposia in the top reviews and that women and minorities were generally poorly represented
