Reviews literature on lawyers' unhappiness Posits that the opportunity to interact and help others is a source of job satisfaction for many lawyers Autonomy and choice of assignments as well as ability to take on creative tasks offer some respite from routine formulaic work Suggests ways to restructure legal education and practice and decrease the pressure of paying back student loans Urges bar journals and law reviews to devote more pages to exploring workplace satisfaction
